The proximity of the District to the national capital Accra is a  for marketing products from the district. Accra has a higher cost of production and living, Akuapem South District on the other hand has a lower costs schedule on land, rent, labour and other bills. 
The district has more than adequate farmland for crops especially pineapples, pawpaw, vegetables, maize
and cassava. The district has a lot of potential for export of these non-traditional export crops. 

Agro base products can be promoted to provide employment and income for the district, which will in the long run increase the Gross Domestic Product of Ghana.
The population of the district is large human resource if well trained and harnessed the youthful population is a potential labour force who can be
engaged in various product ventures if the right environment is created.

At present the potential labour force is 57.4% of the total population in the district. Age 0 to 14 years makes up 34% of the population. With basic education institutions in the district, this population must be encouraged to pursue careers to make them more productive to the district and the nation as a whole. 
The Akuapem range is a great tourist attraction. The climatic conditions at an altitude of over 250 meters makes the area very conducive for recreational purposes. A great competitive advantage is the Aburi Botanic Gardens and the scenic view of Accra and Tema from the mountaintops.

How to get to Aburi

By public transport - Mini-Bus or TroTro can be boarded at Tema Station in Accra central or at Odawna station near Kwame Nkrumah Circle or at Madina. There is also a METRO-Mass Bus from Accra, via Aburi. (Best choice)
Aburi is about 30 Km away from Accra, and can be reached via a modern dual-carry way.
